Although Mumbai sees moderate temperatures all year round, it can become incredibly humid during the summer months, which is why many visitors choose the winter as the best time to fly – from October until March – when it is more comfortable to spend full days walking and exploring. October to November is India’s festive season, so book your tickets during these months to get involved in the incredible atmosphere of Hindu festivals Diwali and Navratri. It’s worth noting that you should avoid visiting Mumbai in June and September; during this time the city has monsoon season and you won’t be able to experience it at its best.

You must have a valid visa to travel to Mumbai and it’s important to note that your passport must be valid for at least the next 180 days at the time of your visa application. The airport you’ll be travelling to, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), is one of the busiest in India so you can expect to find lots of taxi and car rental services available when you land to allow you to travel to your destination. CSIA connects many airports located in western and southern India and there is a separate terminal where domestic flights arrive and depart. If you're taking connecting flights from CSIA you’ll need to look for the inter-terminal coach which can transport you from international terminal T2 to the domestic terminal, but before you leave T2 don’t forget to take a look at the airport’s incredible presentation of over 7,000 Indian artworks and artefacts which have been gathered from all over the country.
