Forming part of the Balearic Islands, around 100 miles off the eastern coast of Spain, Ibiza offers photogenic beaches, charming villages and laid-back vibes. San Antonio on the island’s west coast is known for its big-name nightclubs and buzzing beach bars, but Ibiza has much to offer beyond its legendary party scene. It’s a great destination for water sports, and there are plenty of options for families and couples seeking a serene beach escape.
Picture-perfect beaches
Ibiza’s sensational beaches are the perfect setting to enjoy the island’s guaranteed summer sun. Choose from secluded, craggy coves or long stretches of soft, golden sand. There are lots of tranquil, family-friendly beaches, some with calm waters perfect for paddling and others offering a wide range of water sports. Las Salinas is a popular choice for party-seekers; a short drive from Ibiza Town, the crescent-shaped beach is lined with a string of upscale bars and restaurants.
Things to do in Ibiza
Once you’ve recharged your batteries on the sun lounger, there are plenty of activities to enjoy on Ibiza. San Antonio Town is where to head for famous nightclubs, bars and shops. Meanwhile, nearby San Antonio Bay offers some of Ibiza’s best water-based activities and is a great location to enjoy the island’s glorious sunsets. In the north, the beautifully rugged bay of Cala Xarraca is perfect for snorkelling and also has a natural mud bath.
Inland you’ll find traditional whitewashed villages, pine-clad countryside, and beautiful farmland. Cultural sites worth visiting include the Puig des Molins necropolis and the Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art. We also recommend browsing some of the colourful hippy markets – great for souvenirs, delicious street food and live music.
Ibiza Town
The island’s capital, Ibiza Town, is home to a world-class selection of restaurants and excellent shopping, from stylish boutiques to quirky market stalls. Perched on a hill overlooking the rest of the town is Dalt Vila, the UNESCO-listed old town. Climb the steep cobbled streets to its castle and 16th-century battlements for magnificent views.
