Highlights of Tanzania

You will be met at the airport and taken to Arusha for a short safari briefing and time to freshen up. Continue to Honeyguide Tarangire Camp, arriving in time for lunch. Located within Tarangire National Park, Honeyguide is an intimate, eco-friendly camp surrounded by acacia-studded grasslands that are home to abundant game. After some time to settle in, head out on a late-afternoon safari, then return to the camp for dinner and stories by the campfire.

Enjoy a full day in Tarangire National Park, with the opportunity for morning and afternoon game drives. Located in the spectacular Manyara region, Tarangire’s awe-inspiring landscapes are comprised of granite ridges, river valleys and mixed vegetative landscapes. Lions are commonly spotted, and it’s the one place in Tanzania where antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly.

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a morning game drive. You’ll have the opportunity to spot tree-climbing lions, large herds of elephants and thousands of flamingos on the lake. Check in to Bougainvillea Safari Lodge, located on the outskirts of Karatu town. In Karatu you can browse the bustling marketplace, sample beer at the local brewery, visit a traditional homestead, or take a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and caves.

Transfer to Kati Kati Camp in the Central Serengeti. This mobile tented camp is strategically placed for seeing the wildlife of the surrounding plains. Landscapes here are characterised by endless stretches of savannah interspersed by rocky outcrops and acacia woodlands. The Central Serengeti hosts part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides a habitat for wildlife including giraffes, impalas, hippos, elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas and more.

As the sun rises on your second day in the Serengeti, make the most of the game viewing. Order a picnic breakfast or lunch, then head out into the bush and spend the day looking for wildlife. Consider taking an excursion to Olduvai Gorge; this archaeological site has yielded fossils and stone tools that span millions of years, offering important insights into the dawn of human evolution. Later, back at camp, evening drinks by the campfire is the perfect time to share stories of the day’s sightings.

Make your way slowly out of the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge, game driving as you go. Drive onto the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and towards your lodge. Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge is located beneath the majestic Oldeani Volcano and allows easy access to the untamed wilderness of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as the simple pleasure of a ramble through 500 acres of farmland. Check in and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the quiet surroundings and taking in the stunning views before dinner.

Explore the Ngorongoro Crater today, known for its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. This UNESCO-listed area is considered to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can seek out the Big Five and a range of other species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. Aside from game viewing, activities on offer here include bird watching, trekking, mountain biking and visiting a local Maasai village.

After breakfast and check out, make your way back to Arusha in time for lunch. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
