After breakfast, we set out to explore the ancient town of As-Salt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our first stop is the As-Salt Archaeological Museum, located in the new commercial centre of As-Salt. Opened in 1986, the museum features two exhibition halls showcasing a diverse collection of artifacts spanning various historical periods, from the Chalcolithic era to the Ayyubid/Mameluk period and beyond. Next, we visit the As-Salt Folklore Museum, housed in the Abu Jaber House, dedicated to preserving and displaying the popular heritage of al-Balqa’ Governorate. The museum offers insights into Bedouin and village life, providing a fascinating glimpse into the unique traditions and culture of As-Salt.
Our journey continues with a visit to the Al-Khader Orthodox Church, also known as St. George Church, constructed in the 17th century within a cave believed to be where a villager received a divine message to build a church. This sacred site attracts both Muslims and Christians seeking blessings and offering prayers. Finally, we return to Amman to embark on a guided tour of the capital city's downtown area for two hours. Explore significant sites and museums, including the Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, The Citadel, and the Amphitheatre, each offering glimpses into the city's rich history and heritage. (Please note: Museums are closed on Tuesdays). Enjoy an overnight stay in Amman.

Petra – Mawaker – Bethany (Baptism Site) – Amman

Enjoy breakfast before departing back to Amman, with enriching stops along the way. Our first destination is Mukawir, also known as Machaerus, a site of profound historical significance. Dating back to the 1st century AD, this hilltop fortress was identified by the Roman-Jewish historian Josephus as the palace-fortress of Herod Antipas, the regional ruler during the time of Jesus Christ. It was here, amidst the awe-inspiring vistas overlooking the Dead Sea region and the distant hills of Palestine and Israel, that John the Baptist was imprisoned and ultimately beheaded at the request of Salome, following her fateful dance (Matthew 14:3-11). Continuing our journey, we proceed to the baptismal site of Jesus Christ, located at Bethany beyond the Jordan. This sacred site holds profound significance in Christian history, as it was here that John the Baptist prepared the way for the arrival of the Messiah. Jesus' baptism by John marked the commencement of His public ministry, symbolizing the beginning of the preaching of "the gospel of the Kingdom of God" (Luke 16:16). With pivotal events in the lives of both John the Baptist and Jesus Christ unfolding in Jordan, this journey offers a unique opportunity to connect with the rich spiritual heritage of the region.
